About The Event

In 2025, it will be 30 years since Ukraine joined the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).
On October 3, 1995, Ukraine officially submitted a document on accession to the 1978 Act of the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants, and on November 3, 1995, it became a full member of UPOV, becoming the 29th state to join this authoritative international organization.
Joining UPOV was an important step for Ukraine on the path to integration into the international system of intellectual property rights protection in the agricultural sector. This made it possible to ensure legal protection for new plant varieties, support the activities of domestic breeders, promote innovative development in agriculture, and open up new opportunities for international cooperation.
Today, 30 years after this event, Ukraine continues to actively develop its plant variety rights protection system, introduce modern approaches to breeding and variety testing, and strengthen its position in the international arena. The conference confirms the scientific community's deep interest in the sustainable use of plant resources and further improvement of the variety protection system.
